"I get back way more than I give. I see the families pride in home ownership, and the positive impact it has on them."
Angela - Construction Site Volunteer
"Volunteering for Habitat in Lloydminster is a deeply, completely rewarding privilege. Some examples:
Meeting and, especially, working with:
- interesting and interested women and men who volunteer (too many to mention) of all ages, building experience, and from all walks of life
- dedicated, committed, knowledgeable bosses who pull us together into effective teams
- its tireless volunteer coordinators ;
- all the hardworking others so keen to achieve H4HL goals (such as Vivian, Les, Dennis, and Rowena)
- most important of all, the families for whom the homes are built through our work together.
Learning some new skills, using some old ones, just having a good laugh before fixing our holes‚ or adding that special touch to the landscaping.
Getting into better physical shape (especially on those hot, hot days!).
Seriously, knowing that what we built looks good, is as environmentally friendly as possible on the budget, and will continue to look good in years to come.
And most special of all: Knowing that our work efforts are making a difference in the lives of:
- the families themselves: Moms, Dads, and their children, together with.
- their new neighbors and neighborhoods!
