SEPTEMBER 18, 2011
Habitat for Humanity seeks to end poverty housing worldwide. A Christian Housing ministry, Habitat works in partnership with families in need to build simple, decent houses. These houses are sold to carefully selected partner families at no profit, and with zero-interest mortgages.
Building on Faith is Habitat for Humanity International’s annual celebration of church partnerships and culminates on the International Day of Prayer and Action by encouraging churches around the world to set aside the third Sunday in September to pray for those inadequately sheltered.
Habitat for Humanity “On the Border” Lloydminster Society would like to use September 18, this year’s Day of Prayer, to make housing a matter of conscience in all faith communities in Llloydminster and surrounding areas. Our vision is to place on the hearts, minds and souls of all people the idea that poverty housing is unacceptable.
The Day of Prayer is a great opportunity for thanksgiving and celebration. Habitat for Humanity Lloydminster is giving prayer and thanks to God for the ministry of Habitat for Humanity as this year we provide new homes for 2 families in Lloydminster and 1 family in Vermilion through our Adopt-A-Home program. We also are so thankful for our board and committee members, our volunteers and our donors as they use their gifts to put faith into action to continue the mission to bring an end to poverty housing.
